Nice pics. It's cool to see how it's all done. I've driven by some banana plantations in Puerto Rico and Hawaii, but didn't stop. Why the different methods of packing bananas bound for different countries? Is that just the purchasing country's preference?

This is very easy! For Asian people it is heavy to lift up 20 kg (including box). They like a 13,5 kg box. :ha: No, they are customized to buy a complete hand, while USA and Europe are customized to buy clusters (part of a hand with 4 to 7 fruits). 22 kg for Argentina because they buy 2nd quality and need minimize costs.
For the Arabian Gulf are also packed 5 kg boxes, because a family buy it green (without ripening) and they ripe the bananas at home.

You should stop. But I know that it is very difficult to enter officially. For me it was easier, because I was the President of an Banana Company in Ecuador and I exported from Philippines. Now I want to lift up my own banana company. When it is operating you are welcome and we will drink a banana beer! :bananas_b
Cheers!

:woohoonaner: OK, Chris! I can go for that! :bananas_b

I've been talking to Lorax some recently. Now that I "know" two people down there I'll have to convince my wife that Ecuador would be a great vacation spot!

Yes, Ecuador is great. It is a beautiful country. I only know Guayaquil, Machala, Quito, Cuenca. I traveled by bus and car (pick up). The water of the ocean is warm. The climate at the coast is tropical and it the mountains it's cold. I maid many times the trip from Machala 30 °C to Cuenca 15 °C (Sea level to 9.000 feet) by pickup in 3 hours.

Sorry Brent - Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina! But still South America and great for a trip.

You're right, Cassie...I was. For some reason, something Chris said led me to believe he was from Ecuador as well. I must have misread something.
