OK..........there is a difference that I trying to understand..............

In the Forest..............specially in Tropics...........that is the Original Habitat of Bananas..............the Nutrients is ready available.................and consequently absorved...........quickly.............

N leves are optimum..................despite the basal soil is considered poor............

While in Comercial Fields...............attaked by Sigatoka.............this N level could be lower than the levels founded in the Wild.............???

In this case a Green Cover providing constant N..............is an intresting soil management...............

I don´t know.............I´m just trying to understand the level of N..............comparing what happens in the Wild.......................and in Comercial Fields (attaked by Sigatoka)..........


If not properly managed...................does a Comercial Field could have low N.........???

A jungle rainforest has some of the worst soil in the world. Almost all of the organic material is above the soil level. One way to better understand this would be to visualize the rainforest as a group of trees with hanging bags of NPK. When the tree falls and releases it's nutrients, the other trees quickly absorb these nutrients and return them to the canopy. The soil of a jungle rainforest appears to be nutrient rich mainly because of the increased rainfall.
If erosion can be eliminated from the equation, natural grasslands will increase soil fertility the quickest. Cover crops work best when returned to the soil.

As for Sigatoka & N, if a banana has an adequate supply of N it can produce new leaves at a fast enough pace to stay ahead of the Sigatoka. The main problem lies with after the flower when the banana is no longer producing new leaves. The banana stops running but the Sigatoka continues to chase.

Now I undestand perfectly the rule of N...............it makes the leaves grow faster than the Sigatoka dispersion............

I started to study bananas just about 6 months ago..........and also I started a small Banana Garden................

And I learn a lot here in Banans.org..................
