Question Banana ??

This may be a newbie question but,
I occasionally get some bananas that stay green and then make dots on them? What makes them not turn yellow, and then make dots? Could it be how they ship them? the pictures are not the best example of it but you get the idea.

not sure how to post photoes yet hope it works:

It's a shipping thing, and then a gassing thing. The specks you see are called Sugar Spots - they appear on the fruit if it's been improperly picked, packed, shipped, or gassed. And occasionally they appear on fruit I've just harvested from my plants - this is a heat issue, and only happens when I harvest in the afternoon.

What keeps the finger stems from rotting before the bananas rippen? Everytime I harvest a bunch from the woods, the stems end up turning black or moldy before the fingers turn yellow.

Could I use Physan 20 to prevent this?

Chris, I use Lamisil broad-spectrum. Plantations use a similar fungicide to keep the stems good. Physan 20 will likely do the trick for you. You should also recall that plantations are picking their fruit hard green off of plants that have been heavily fungicided for most of their lives.

Musa basjoo is not normally considered edible due to the seeds it contains. Having said that, you probably could eat it, though I can't vouch for the taste.
