Bad News about Bananaplantation.biz

Well, after waiting a while to hear from Oliver about my latest order, I called.

The news is bad. Wilma apparently devastated their plants and whole operation and they are out of business until Spring :(. He very quickly refunded every penny I had paid and aplogized.

I wished them the best and will be monitoring their website for news that they are selling bananas again.

Well I placed an order with them about 3 weeks ago, after 2 weeks I called and talked to Oliver, his reply was they were about 3 weeks behind, and still no electric power. He said he would refund my money, I said no and would wait.
Then I saw this post and called on monday 11/14/05, spoke to another person (not Oliver), he replied that they are not out till spring, but behind due to the storm and loss of power.
He said there is a lot of damaged foliage, but the corms are OK, He said he would refund my money as well, I said no, told him to send out my order when he could.
So he said he would get my order out ASAP, mostly getting to corm anyway due to the damaged foliage, I told him no problem.
So lets not forget them when there down and out for a short time.
Just wanted to clear this up, and I am in no way associated with them.

TDL,

Interesting.

I am curious now just what exactly their status is. Did "not Oliver" give a name or was it just someone answering the phone? I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I am not convinced your last call cleared up anything.

Oliver definitely told me they would not have mine (SH3008 and a Kofi) for several months, that's pretty much spring. Maybe I need to place my order again. Of course with the freezing weather we have coming, I am a bit gun-shy about shipping tender plants now.

I also asked Oliver if they would put some kind of notice up on the website with a status and he said they were planning to. So far though, nothing.

Hi Casa, did not get the fellows name, I too was thinking about the up and coming cold as well, kinda running out of time so to speak to ship or cancel.
He asked where I was (VA) and my order #, said he would get them right out.
Not realy sure whats going on either. Not to worried about a few bucks. Will let you know if and when I get. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Bananaplantation.biz comes thru.......
I had called back on 11/25 wondering about my order, the fellow said he would call me back, an hour later he calls and said the order would go out 11/28.
Tracking # said it would be here today and was.
What I ordered: two 2 gal. Saba's, 3'-4' tall for $10 each+$10 shipping $30 Total.
What I was told on over phone: plants are torn up due to Hurricane Wilma, But will send them out, what your getting is pretty much the corm anyway.
What I got: 2 potted Saba's with leaves torn up from the wind, 3' tall, nice stalk 2" dia., great looking rich soil, packed very well, package weighed 20 lbs.
I could not be more pleased with what I received.
I have paid the same price from elsewhere and got a punny 12" tall plant not even in a pot, roots or what was supposed to be roots were in a baggie, but I got a FREE FERTILIZER TAB, WOW
