The worst part of my experience is that I had to wait a whole year to find out if I got the right tree or not(Manzano). It turned out to be some type of plantain.. and it wasn't even as good as a typical grocery store plantain! Cost me a week of work to dig it out and chop it into mulch too.

I'm sorry to say, but I highly doubt that they sent you the plants you ordered. Their reviews on Dave's Watch Garden are largely negative.

The scoop on 'The Banana Tree (Banana-Tree.com)'

Also, the fact that they are based in a state where bananas do not grow leads me to be skeptical.

I highly recommend Welcome to Going Bananas of Homestead, Florida!

I've visited the farm and know first hand that they have excellent quality plants and excellent customer service. I can't speak from experience as to how well they handle internet orders, but they have 100% positive feedback on Daves Watchdog.

I've said it before... I wish I had found that watchdog site years ago!
I agree im a big fan of the davesgarden.com watchdog I use it all the time its a great tool. I have found some very good and nice people there that have sent me all kinds of very nice plants. I just placed a order the other day with going bananas. Its kind of stone age LOL but thats ok ,I sent a check off in the mail we will see what I get I heard great things about this company. The girl there Katie has been really helpful too me she has responded to me many times back with emails she is very upfront about certain plants I was interested in and very helpful. They seem like great people there. Well good luck with your bananas.

Well, I wanted to order from there too. The phyto inspection stopped me though.

LOL I agree, they need to get a site with a shopping cart! I think if their site was half as good as PIN, they would be selling tons more through the internet!

Dean, the phyto thing really really sucks, but a reputable nursery will abide by state laws. I thought the phyto was only for citrus due to the greening problem... but others on here have told me it's for other fruits as well.

That being said, I'm sure someone on the org has the plants you are looking for and would be happy to send you some baby plants at cost of shipping ...or maybe someone in a nearby state(without restrictions) can buy it for you and ship it from there.

Either way, You should wait to see if you can identify the banana plants you received before you do anything. After all, bananatree has shipped the right orders to some in the past.
Hopefully you have better luck identifying your bananas than I did with mine. As I mentioned earlier, it took a whole year before I was sure my plant was not a manzano.

Thanks Mario! She told me that I could check back in a month or so. That way I can find out if the phyto thing had been lifted. They really do have some nice plants. Plus after ordering these two from Banana tree after shipping ran about $15 each. I'm not sure of the size of the corm of Going Bananas, but I'm sure they are larger.

As far as identifying plants are concerned. I haven't had much luck either. They are either to small or have not, yet flowered.
