Any interesting bananas in Bali?
Hi all,
I'll be spending a week in Bali next week. YAY!!!! I was wondering if there are any unique banana plants, or any plants for that matter, that I could check out? I do know Bali has a fruit called wani, though I'm uncertain if it'll be in season. Do let me know! |

Re: Any interesting bananas in Bali?
Eat all you can while you're there but don't try to bring any plants back. Being arrested at Customs is no fun.

Re: Any interesting bananas in Bali?
Beautiful place! You'll have to hunt around the local markets. The markets in the villages in the central mountains of the road to Kuta going to North Bali was interesting. Lots of local markets on the way.
We didn't get a chance to go to east Bali or west Bali. We heard most of the Arak (local palm liquor) and palm sugar is made in east Bali. What I noticed was the types of bananas changed from Kuta to the mountains. There were lots of "mountain bananas" (pardon the creative liberty) on the sides of the road. |

Definitely not a good idea. I just watched a document about a guy from New York. He was mailing himself drugs from Malaysia (coka I think) and ever since then (1987) any packages from tropical countries are submitted for manual check-ins (manual unpacking, seeing what's inside, packing). At least that's what the document said. So you might just as well take that corm with you on the plane. Quote:
Some threads about FEis are here: French Polynesia Gabe15's threads about FEis: fe'i bananas in Manoa Valley Musa 'Aiuri', fe'i banana And Gabe15's definition of FEi bananas: Quote:
