Any banana (edible preferably) who likes shade

I am having a piece of my pool in semi shade due to neighbors live oak. Any edible kind that would work well in a semi shadow place? There is some sun but it doesn't blast them during any time of the day. Maybe for an hour every now and then but rest of the day is more filtered sun light.

Some sun is definitely better than no sun. I don't think I would worry so much about that.

How tall do you want to limit to be?
Are you going to leave it planted in the ground. In a pot? Or dig it up every winter?

Keep it in the ground if I can row it high enough. If too small IU need to dig it up or it doesn't survive.

Probably go with a Namwah or a Orinoco if you want a chance for fruit. For ornamental being by the pool, some Basjoo in the back with some Velutina in front.

I think most varieties will do ok for you. Bananas really don't like strong sun anyway. ... Thick growing banana mats makes their own shade and shade each other and young pups during the day. ... My bananas get afternoon shade from near by trees.

... An Orinoco should do great for you without a lot of work. The fruit can be eaten cook or sweet out of hand.

My understanding is FHIA-8 is a great choice for part shade. I hear dwarf Brazilian is another good choice. Some of my bananas do horrible in any shade but others do fine.

I tried Brazilian (Dwarf variant) and my experience is it that I does poorly in shade...
What is the common name for FHIA 8? I have only tried FHIA 3 and 18 not 8.

Another edible Nana variety that you should consider is the beautiful, royal and majestic AEAE (Manini)!.....It does very well in filtered sunlight (partially shade location)!.....

Also, you will have an awesome scenery!......
