![]() One of my mothers Orinoco's bloomed shortly after it warmed up.
It basically only has the flag leaf and a small piece of a regular leaf that was broken off by wind. So far the bananas seem to be developing so I'll post progress later. ![]()

![]() That's OK, especially if there are other plants in the same mat. When my grandmother used to force her bananas to fruit at a low height, she would cut the tallest plant in a mat at a certain height, leaving only the trunk. After a few weeks, the middle of the stalk will emerge leafless, followed by inflorescence, which turns downward, followed by fruit. The other plants in the mat provides nutrients to the bare plant. Your plant looks healthy and its only April. Your area gets warm in the summer, so I would think that your fruits will/can ripen before the cold season.

![]() I keep hearing that a banana plant can mature fruits, even if it had little to no leaves, but has a pup with leaves. My experience has shown this to be incorrect. In fact, this year my Saba bloomed right after a freeze, that killed the leaves. Despite having two pups with leaves in the mat, the fruit did not mature. This has happened twice.
I would love to see some evidence. |

![]() My mother cut off the bud in hopes it would help them fill out but it's been over a month now with little progress even with plenty of huge 10ft+ pups next to it.
RIP naked bloom ![]()
