almost fried my bananas...

I almost uncovered my patio plat last weekend, but ran out of time and energy...and good thing! We had a frost on Monday night that would have done them in for sure!

I guess March 15th is the magic date now for the uncovering. And the rest of my uncovered plants (that just got frostbite...) are showing signs of life!!

Yes, RECORD COLD in Sacramento. Global Warming? Frost in march??!

I didn't believe the frost warnings so I didn't cover anything and my young bananas got really hurt. It got to 31.4F here!!! We've been below normal almost everyday since Jan, and not just a couple degrees, but usually like 10 DEGREES below normal on a daily basis. This year is absolutely insane. Where are the 70s and 80s??!!!!!! This is the coldest year I can remember in a long time. If didn't know any better, I'd say the world is slipping into a mini ice age

I like your temperature :ha:. 42F nice weather for 3PM. Technically spring is little over a week away but you wouldn't know it by going outside. Hope warm weather is ahead for you!

Check out this site: World Climate

One of the interesting data points it lists is the 50%/90% last frost dates.

For instance, in Novato where I live, there is a 50% chance that the last frost will be on or prior to 1/24, and a 90% chance that the last frost will be on or prior to 4/15.

Thanks!! For me, Sacramento is 90% last frost at Feb 13th. Got shafted this year. Guess that's why it's not 100%

I had to duck into a wal-mart and buy the only thermals and coats they had left tonight! They were all on clearance for $4-$5. When I left Louzianne it was HOT and muggy and I thought there was no way it could get this cold. I worked in sleet today in North Mississippi with a thin dress shirt and wet shoes :(
Tomorrow will be different, I even bought some new socks.......didn't need em' but they looked soo warm and dry that I had to buy em'.
