Congrats, welcome to the ARH club.. not many are growing this kind. It's got a really cool bloom also, I fruited one a few years ago. Pics in my gallery.

I have perhaps been growing this type all along but didn't know it due to the fact that it has a different name here in the Philippines: Tindok. So I haven't been inducted into the ARH club for this reason I think. They are indeed very interesting to grow. Even here where there's a banana plant in everyone's yard, not many people are familiar with it.

" ...bananas just take too long to give fruit." I planted grapes here long before I started in bananas, but have only gotten a couple of handfuls of fruit. Each week I get a truckload of bananas! Durian, mango and rambutan all take longer than bananas.

Apples, cherries, peaches, etc. all take several years to really bear fruit. I know it takes longer in your climate for bananas to fruit, but most fruiting "trees" need patience. I'm pretty happy about mine.

Fruited once. Very cold sensitive.

I had several nights this last winter with sustained (4+ hours) temperatures of 35 F. My young ARH did not show any signs of stress in comparison to the other bananas in the plat. For this reason I bought a full flat from AgriStarts this summer.

A few more of them are listed in the Wiki. Also somewhere on this site is a thread where Gabe discusses horn types.
