well ones again i have to much time on my hands was out in the garden with the camera "hey I'm trying to get better" any way iv had my eye on my Ae Ae i over fertilized it a month ago when i was in a Hurray and threw a grate big hand full on it rushing out to dinner I'm sure you all know the feeling if your any kind of out side life and i know you all do any way
it put out three leafs that were should i say a bit twisted then at the first of the week a new leaf emerged and heres the picture you are probably not going to be able to judge the scale of this leaf but to say its massive would be an understatement its bigger then the hole plant Best guess is its 50" long and maybe 2.3 ft wide its a beauty so i thought id share it with every one sorry if I'm a bit obsessed with my plants but whats a semi retied chef to do with his spare time!






I tried to show my hand so you could get the scale but my hand looks huge in comparison i have rather small hands maybe at best 4.5 ' across the palm

The other bananas around it look great, too, especially for a blistering hot climate like you have. I'm reading your WeatherUnderground sticker and it says 107ºF and 9% humidity, very hot and dry! Anyway.... lookin' good!

They you mean Me! lol i hope it rains too we only have 3 weeks left of this monsoon season and we haven't had hardly a drop of rain this year its vary strange normally we get tones of down pours at this time of year

I think that the Bananas are doing well this year because I'm watering them three times a day first one is a good slow soak for about 15 mints with drip then i hit them at lunch time with the hose spraing down the foliaged and then again at dinner time foliage and a good soak with the hose and i switched to K-mag i think its the main reason they look so good there cell structure is more able to with stand the heat they leafs are thicker and tougher
they have many more their just generally in better health then with the Banana flue i was using before o and there getting a monthly dose of Kelp extract a vary good brand Scot got for me i don't remember it of the top of my head I'm also using microsomal Bactria and fungi i have experimented with it and they ones that get the Microsomal have many more roots which is highly important in such an arid climate don't you all think!

Paulo, I think you just provided me with a clue, even for here in colder weather! I've used mycorrhizal fungai for other plants that suffer from transplant shock with great success including everything from evergreens to wild orchids(sorry to admit being a bit relentless in collecting plants back in the day). Currently I've been thinking how much transplant shock might affect bananas grown in northern climates where if they're not grown in a pot are transplanted a couple of times per year. Mycorrhizal fungai attaches itself to the roots and through a sybiotic relation allows them to feed more efficiently. I will definitely be looking in to how I might use this on my plants here in Jersey. ............Thanks.

i just went out side to do my 4 Am watering i was in total dismay every banana was shredded we must have had a hell of a wind storm the Ae Ae leaf looks like fringe I'm so bummed but o well they will still grow like that

Wow, I had two staked trees blow over and patio furniture everywhere! Surprisingly, only 1 tear in my banana leaves. Definitely looks and feels like a storm is coming

Thanks for the update on your Ae-Ae, Paul. Sorry I haven't gotten around to answering your PM you sent me. I was busy preparing to a presentation I did yesterday at a local botanical garden on growing bananas.

I think your Ae-Ae looks really good. The leaves look amazing for your climate. Mine burned worse than that here in TX (when I had one ). Keep up the good work! I'll try to PM you back later on. I've got a busy day today.

Brent one of the management practices i use in my hot climate is to cluster all the potted Banana to gather that way the water vapor they produce reinforces a micro climate for each other the "Buddy System" it reduces wind and low humidity burn.

its growing roots be patient it will start growing i think the reason my plant is growing is i switched to a vary powerful fertilizer that i got from Scot via Richard its mad all my Bananas grow fast now
