The p-stem on it is only about 8". My idea was to grow it in a pot in a protected area to keep it looking it's best. Any banana I've grown under cover has been more lush,holds more leaves has better color,no sunburn and no shredded leaves.When it gets too big for the patio I'll plant it in-ground
