I feel you. My backyard is filled with potted plants because there is no more room in the ground. My wife yells at me to stop bring home plants, lol.

I really wish my box stores would take the hit to bring some of this stuff north. I'd love to just walk into a store and buy banana plants on a whim.

I was shocked yesterday, stores here never have bananas, and 2 different Lowes had Basjoo, Zebrina, and Enano Gigante ( I think a form of cavendish?). I was going to buy the Zebrina till I saw the 50 dollar price tag.

I got my basjoo and zebrina from our local garden nursery 2 years ago. Six inch pots, purchased in August, 2 foot high plants, please please take these away, we have dozens. Three bucks each.

Now the pups and pups and pups from those 2 single pstem pots are going nuts in my yard. (See my "making progress in Nebraska" post)

But still, part of me would really like to try an Ensete or anything that made edible fruit!

I have an ensete glaucum I grew from seed, its getting pretty big, and I hope it survives the winter. I have seen some claims of zone 7. And I got two Ensete Maurelli from Florida hills, and they have grown a lot!. As far as getting fruit here, I got a Veinte Cohol, and I am hoping it does something.

Just imagine how bad it would be if you could grow them year round easily without protecting them from the cold and had access to potentially dozens of cultivars. I got it so bad I'm planting them on unoccupied lots that border mine!

Oh, I know, I would have a whole forest of them lol. I got 3 sikkis i started from seed, and a couple of Thai black, so maybe have a forest anyway. My land is on a hill, so hoping the drainage will help prevent rot in winter, and I always have tons of leaves for a mulch.
