If 25 of us threw in $20 and we had it TC'd and shared the plantlets.............................

Just a thought. :bananarow: :bananarow: :bananarow:

read the fine print - you have to buy 2 . . . . :2190:

Re: 'ace of hearts'

Then let's get $40 each. I think it's still a viable idea. More to tissue culture!!!

If the idea catches attention, make a list of interested people with $40 to donate for the cause.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

While I like the idea, I am not certain we could generate that much speculation - and I suspect we would then need to contract with a TC lab to make the thing. I can do the TC, but I am not certain I would want that level of responsibility.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

you could probably contact agristarts and see if they'd be interested. It might be quite a few months before you'd ever see any plantlets.

No actually it just counts as 2 plants when shipped, not you have to buy two plants.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

That's how I read it - buy 1 plant, pay 2 plants worth to ship.

I'm in for $20 to start this

Terry -

Hey - this looks like my .50 but I can't hold it like this (50 lbs)

Can this plant be TC'd or is it a mutation like Ae Ae?

Re: 'ace of hearts'

I'm in, if this goes anywhere. Keith, you would only need a little tissue, Right? It ought to give you plenty of chances to get it right, and still get pups. Of course, whatever we actually paid would have to cover ALL expenses.
On the other hand, Brenda, down at A&B has given a few plants to Agri-Starts to tc, and they pay her a licensing fee for a set time. I didn't ask for details, but they might be willing to arranged some way to take the labor out of the project.

I'm in, if it goes anywhere, too :)

Re: 'ace of hearts'

Well, if Brenda did it, someone else can get the plants to agristarts and let them do the job, if they pay back licensing fees we can split it and at least get somethingwith the initial investment, 'cause then they will have their fees afterwards too. If a nursery license is needed, I can bet some of the members have nurseries by themselves. Just my 2 cents.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

"Keith, you would only need a little tissue"

Yes - but it is the meristem of the plant and there is only one per pseudostem. In essence you destroy the plant to get the tissue you need. If the culture becomes contaminated you are then out of luck.

Agristarts might be the way to go. The thing could go from $500 to $1in less than a year.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

I'd contribute $$ toward the purchase of this plant with the intention to donate it to agristarts. I think it's an incredibly beautiful plant that should be in cultivation.

Keith, that is really cool! I don't know if I could grow one here in NM, but I'm more than willing to give it a try.

Terry, I think it's a great idea! Put me down for $40. and send me a message if this deal goes through.

I think for $20-$40 ea. we could get enough people together to pull this off. As far as the tc goes I'll have to leave that up to you guys to find somebody.

I forgot to say that I'm willing to put in $20. Maybe $40, if not enough people join in.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

Even if it wasnt immediately tissue cultured, if someone has a greenhouse and could grow it under optimal conditions then produce a few pups, start some more, and give the rest to who chipped in.

Re: 'ace of hearts'

I'm greenhouse rich, could chip in $20.
