? about ripening color
 
So I had one ripe banana on a bunch (I'm sure everyone remembers ha ha) and we ate it and now the rest of that hand is turning the DARKEST green color. The rest are still on the plant cuz I only cut that one hand off. Is this normal? They were light green when cut and now they are the darkest green I have ever seen. Normal? How long does it take to turn yellow once cut? I guess different varieties are different. This is a Mysore. Anyway, my husband even noticed them tonight when he got home and how dark green they were. They are reverse ripening. :)

You could put a hand into a paper/plastic bag and toss in an apple. This will help them to ripen more quickly.

I believe it is normal to darken once severed from the tree since no more water is going to the fruit. Now they are ripening versus enlarging, so it would seem normal. That's my logic anyway, someone may have a better answer.

The skins are shrinking as the moisture leaves making them appear darker. Like Scot said, stick an apple in a bag with the bananas and they'll ripen in a few days.

They are in a brown bag with an apple. Thanks! That is so interesting about the skin. Thanks for the info.
