Default Aaacck -my New Raja Puri's getting SOAKED

... "but it's a banana plant" my husband says calmly (since we couldn't even kill some Orinocos on our burn pile).
Do y'all concur?... that is, 'no worries'.
In stormy pic below, you might be able to just see the little pup ? 3' high to the back left of the tree that is front/center.
Pic taken during a frog-strangler that came the day after planting.
I did NOT water it after planting as the ground was semi-moist since it had rained a tad earlier that day (& I knew more rain was coming).
The ground where's it's planted gets a soaking with rain as it moves over that area w/ the lay of our land.
If the ground is saturated and we get super heavy rains, water will normally absorb into the surrounding ground within 24 hrs..
Soooo... can someone please tell me to stop being a worry wart? ...orrrr ? no such luck hearing that?

Newly planted:

The next day rains:

Hi Lawler,

call me a male chauvinist something, but I say listen to your husband: It is a banana!
They like rain. It reminds them of home, where they originate. That it looks a little droopy
right now, has a whole lot more to do with transplanting than with soggy conditions.

See here: What root rot?

You should see the condition of the ornata, which I separated out of the pad yesterday

Good luck,
Olaf

Fascinating Olaf! Thank you for the interesting info.. All makes sense. I will remember this as we are expected to get another 2 days of drenching tomorrow and the next.

And "male chauvinist "? Puhllease ... You had differing/new information, that's all
I happen to believe, in our 'neck of the woods' (& I'm sure many others) that males are constantly undercut and de-maculated in media, entertainment, pop-culture, what have you. "Feminism", as far as how I see it defined, is a dirty word.

Again, thank you so for the information!

Hi Lawler,

It wasn't about differing information. It was about my crack: "listen to your husband'.
That was almost Middle East style, though meant in jest.

Booooyyyy.... you know, I was a towhead when I was a kid... I must say, some of it has stuck around b/c I can be so slow on some things.
Obviously, I saw nothing wrong w/ the 'listen to your husband' part as I didn't even catch it -ha!

Again, appreciate the info. as I can go forward today, with blackened skies, with a smile.
Thanks!
