Now that Agri Starts has them, they will greatly come down in price. I don't know how much longer they will be in the $100 range, but I would guess not a whole lot longer. But who knows, if people keep buying them at that price then maybe they will continue at that price for awhile? I hope not.

There's an exclusive deal at Agri-Starts that will be ending soon.
These are probably not Agri-Starts product.

I know Going Bananas Nursery now has then from Agri Starts, well at least starter/sample plants. Eventually Going Bananas will offer them too.

They got them from Agristarts and part of the deal is that they can't sell them for less than the listed price on their website.

I wonder how long that will last? After all, Tcing a banana usually isn't all that hard, ae-ae excepting.

I was looking around last night for a few things and I ran across this:

http://briansbotanicals.net/catalog/...15a6b15859879b

I don't know anything about their operation, so I don't know how reliable they are, but if someone wants one, it looks like they can get it cheaper from them.

Well, then I'd say he's probably an alright guy!

Yep Brian had Agri-Starts do the TC'ing for him, and all plants for the first year were supposed to go to him, maybe he worked out some distrubution deal recently to allow other plant sellers with greater reach to sell them now, at those prices, and they share the profits. Hey, it's no skin off his back..
In January the price should fall though.

Re: $89 Siam Reds at Stokes!

I was asked if some certain nurseries could get some trays of the Siam Ruby so I let a few trays go. I try not to set a price on the plants but rather let the market do so. Ebay seems to be a great way to find out what your products are worth and I have used it to set prices on a lot of my plants.

I have to say out of all the plants I have released or sold I have had more problems with this thing than any others LOL. Here we call it Siam Drama! I have tried very hard to keep everyone happy it is a very cool banana and I am still excited that I even have one plant of it.

I am not sure if I will get in trouble for this but I am not sure if I can add a photo of them to the site. I did put up a few different forms of the Siam Ruby on Ebay. It seems sense the plant is unstable I have found at least two other forms that shows up out of TC that seem to keep their odd look. I will look into posting the pics here. THANKS

Re: $89 Siam Reds at Stokes!

Hey Brian,

I was thinking the same thing after looking at your site and the "different" colorations. I see that you gave a name to the 2 tone green variety. My first plant is that light green with some very light green on part of the leaf. It runs parallel to the midrib, NOT from midrib out to edge. It appears to be a pretty strong grower and although very light green, it seems to take day long S FL sun without burning. The replacement Red one seems a lot slower. Lack of green to make chlorophyl?

I also noticed my replacement Red doesn't look like the pics of the one that keeps getting posted on here (granted mine is still a lot smaller) so I wondered if we might have several "different" patterns. Maybe we will end up with Siam Ruby var. A, B, C, etc.

Hope you get the pics on here so we can start tracking coloration and see if different "patterns" appear.

Take care - Terry

Re: $89 Siam Reds at Stokes!

I bought mine yesterday at Plant Delights( he bought one in Thailand several years ago for 400 bucks) and used it for TC, at the place he uses, I think in Minnesota( its a Hosta person I believe), and he's selling them at the nursery for 35 bucks. I think they'll be in the Fall catalog on August 1. They plants were about 18 to 24 inches tall, in 3 quart containers.

Re: $89 Siam Reds at Stokes!

Hi all,
Bought one from Brian's a couple of months ago. It just sat there for about a month, now it's starting to grow. Beautiful plant, almost totally red, just green speckles and a couple of green stripes. It just put a pup on, it's about 4 inches, and the pup is totally green. Do any of you think it will color up the bigger it gets? Will all the pups be green? Does anyone know if it has a good banana? I would appreciate any input.
