I just bought some 6-1-8 fertilizer for my palms and was wondering how well it would work for my naners... I also use potash from my fire pit. Would this be a good diet or am I still missing something?

This is the stuff i'm using:

Palm Fertilizer often has a pH that is neutral to alkaline and buffers (e.g., extra lime) to keep it that way. Meanwhile, your bananas are looking for something slightly acidic with a pH in the low 6's.

I did a little more research and it turns out that this can be used on acid-loving plants. However, on Lowe's website it says it is not for edibles... on closer inspection the ingredients include activated sewage. yuck! how unsafe is this stuff? i already applied some :\

Sunniland palm fertilizer contains muriate of potash (MOP) which is bad for bananas and other plants that are sensitive to salt, it is utilize in fertilizers because it's a cheap form of potassium. Fertilizers that contain sulfate of potash (SOP, (K2SO4) or sulfate of potash magnesia (Sul-po-mag, (2MgSO4 • K2SO4) are safe in the correct amount with banana plants.

Always use fertilizers that have less than 2% chlorine (salt).

Richard, I have a fruit fuel question

If a 25 pound bag of 16-8-24 fruit fuel contains

4 pounds of nitrogen
2 pounds of phosphate
6 pounds of potash
13 pounds of filler

What type of water soluble filler (inactive ingredients) is used in fruit fuel?
