Nice garden lay out, I should come up with some kind of lay out for my yard, I just plant things in the first random spot I walk up to, LoL

Daryl, thats a really nice setup and your bananas seem to like it also. Curious as to the sun exposure and what kind of fertilizer you use and water amounts. I'm guessing at zone 7? Kurt.

Yes, I would appreciate that once the weather breaks we can set something up email me at ueberwinden@yahoo.com and we can swap info if you would like. I live off Mt Zion Road near Uion, Ky. I have many projects I am working with so we can swap some plants. I have bananas of course, and agave, brugmansia, giant reed, plumeria, bamboo, and many others. I have been trying to finish my Koi pond so i have a place to put all of the water lilies, right now they are in 18 gallon rubbermaid totes. It alright for a temp holding place. I am going to get some Lotus this spring from a friend, and will have that available in June or July. I'm really enjoying the thaw today, I work at CVG so I am outdoors 80-90% of the time. You wouldn't believe how many people that work for the airline have interests in gardening. I'm not talking about house plants, or veggie gardens. I have carried bananas 3 and 4 feet long through the airport because I was swapping with one of the guys I work with. I get strange looks sometimes, but I don't care. I have given brugs to many of the people I work with, imagine the looks I get when they are blooming and I am carrying them through the busy airport. Thx, the plants in these photos are in full sun(8-9hrs) & including cavendishes. They might shade each other towards the later part of summer.

As far as ferts go, I use Osmocote slow release only for plants that are being transplanted and mix that and Milorganite in the fill dirt. Everything gets Milorgonite, loosely mixed in the mulch, by the shovel load several times through the summer and also one early application of all an purpose landscape(cheap) fert 10-10-10 spread on the surface. I have a hunch that the Milgoranite may be attacting skunks. We had some "issues" last year and eventually...I won the battle...(sorry PETA)

One weekly watering w/ the following mixed into one 2 gallon watering can - 1 TBSP of 40-0-0- urea, 2 TBSP epsom salt, 2 TBSP Miracle Grow & 2 TBSP root stimulator (it takes several batches to do my plants and these photos show about 1/3 of my tropical plants , plus I have a 5 acre yard...)

I also use plain Miracle grow say, mid-week and then just water as needed in between all the liquid ferts.

Basically I use alot of ferts and alot of water....

I'm zone 6a
