30 F for more than 2 hours will kill the leaves and destroy the fruit. I would cover the plants with frost cloth and place electric heat mats on ground under the cover. This is the coldest November ever so far in most of North America and it really sucks!

Down here the bananas are ready to harvest about 4 months after the first hand appears. Your bananas may be ready to harvest now if they have filled out.

If the fingers are pretty well filled in cut it down and hang inside the garage or the house. They will ripen eventually. Toss everything else and top the pstems. Thirty degrees for 2 hrs is adios for any bunch.

Do you send care packages up to the northwest for the banana deprived children of the north. I know... the postage would kill you and you would have to sell bananas on the street corner. Oh well a girl can dream. Your crop is lovely I hope they taste as good as they look when they ripen.

Thank you ! Meek too :08:

I harvested in Time, this morning I woke up too frost on my front lawn & frost on my windshield, all the banana leaves are toast, but the plants are not dead, they come back & fruit every year since I moved to NE Florida, I feed them heavy spring-Summer so they snap back pretty fast..

your bananas look great I am happy you got every thing in before the frost. I have weather envy.

Even with my cold frame, the banana leaves are all wilted. All the planted bananas in the ground, even with heavy covers, all leaves wilted and terrible.

Ah well, I guess it's trimming time. They'll grow back.

Same here , they will grow back if the plant is healthy..
Good luck ed.
