1000 Fingers - Is this Typical?

How unusual is it for 1000 fingers to produce this many fruit? This looks like a Years worth of Bananas!
I bought some tiny bananas in the supermarket the other day and wanted to find what they are and found this pic:

Yeah, they're supposed to go all the way down. I'm not too familiar with that variety but that nanner seems tall, having more fruits because of that...
Maybe we've got someone on the forum that is more familiar with that variety.

I've never seen one in person fruit to the extent of the most impressive photos online, I take that to mean it can be done, but is not the norm or very common. When I grew one, the bunch was about 3ft long. However, even if it does make a huge long bunch like in the photo, fruit on the bottom can still be developing as the top fruit are starting to ripen, making it impossible to harvest an entire bunch. It's a neat plant and the fruit is decent eating, but it's really more of a novelty cultivar to grow. The fruit is very small and so even if you get a lot of harvestable fruit, I can't imagine how it's yield would even come close to a highly productive normal-fruiting cultivar.

Not normal in Hawaii at least that I've seen. I've been told there is one that fruits all the way to the ground at a beach here located next to the runoff from the showers where it gets an incredible amount of soapy water. I get 3-4' bunches at best under much drier conditions.

Very Nice and yes they will grow to the ground depending on your growing season I would cut the bloom off two months before you season ends to fill out the bananas to harvest. I will try and upload some photo's of some I have grown

It's a tricky one to grow in my area. Just a touch to much fertilizer and it locks up like a seized engine. Otherwise it's a very nice plant

Have had a couple bunches that were about 30" but nothing like the one in the picture.

I need to dig out a pic from circa 1995 of me and Don Chafin from Going Bananas standing in front of a row of 1,000 finger plants with fruit. In the picture we are holding the raceme of the first plant in the row.

We formerly got some fairly large racemes, following pics are from 2002 (the racemes proceeded to get significantly larger; I eventually propped them with bamboo poles).
