This is a real newbie question. Are musa zebrina and musa sumatrana 'rojo' the same banana? If not, which is considered the actual blood banana?

I believe so. Gabe could tell you. Though, I heard that "Rojo" is the improper name. I call mine "Zebrina"

Re: will the real blood banana please stand
ya they are the same. there may be a few different forms out on the market, but nothing really significant, at least with those names. the proper name is Musa acuminata subsp. zebrina.
