Default Why don’t ensete maurelli make pups?

I have one in my front yard landscape and I love it’s beautiful deep colors. I was just curious why don’t they put out pups like other bananas which push out pups like crazy? I’ve also heard you can propagate maurelli by cutting down to the corm and killing the center growth to force shoots on the side.

I have had some pup for me, and cutting the corm also works.

Oh wow that’s good to know! Can you cut the corm down after it flowers or does it need to be before to produce side shoots?

I don't know for sure, but if it flowers you can harvest the seeds.

I haven't grown any seeds myself. There are some threads on starting seeds. It sounds a little tricky sometimes.

Gotcha that makes sense because even by appearance they’re very different. I saw a lady on YouTube propagate the maurelli it just scares me lol
