It is planted about a foot deeper into the ground, so with that in mind I'd say it is now 4-5 feet tall just with the above-ground height.

'Mekong Giant' is not var. xishuangbannaensis, despite it being labeled as such. It is more likely var. itinerans.

I am growing var. itinerans and 'India Form'. I also have M. formosana in the greenhouse.

Helton and I are growing Musa itinerans "Indian Form". Musa itinerans "Indian Form" does form runners, be careful because of the neighbourhood. Do not plant too close to the house or to the border of your yard! I got one runner from Helton.

Best wishes

Would you think I was sold the wrong plant? Also, what crosses out the possibility of xishuangbannaensis being Mekong? I come across a lot of conflicting statements...: (

The plant was mis-identified when it was named. The real var. xishuangbannaensis is much larger than \'Mekong Giant\'. There are other distinguishing differences also. One of the easiest ways to tell the difference is to cut a leaf at the base of the petiole and see what color the "sap" is. Only var. xishuangbannaensis bleeds red sap. Var. itinerans is a milky-clear sap. I have tried to point out this error to those responsible, but to no avail. Seems to be all about marketing.
