Uk Bananas

Hi all, just wondering how any uk residents if any have done with Ensete glaucum AkA Snow Banana, I am just trying some seeds. Its been a couple of weeks now with no movement. Any advice or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated :coldbanana:

They should pop soon. Quite easy from seed. They need about 30 - 35 degrees constant temperature. I tried them, but I don't think ensetes work too well in the UK climate. They aren't hardy as I've seen them described on ebay.

On the topic of Ensete germination you could also talk to Dalmatiansoap, he's something like our local expert. ;)

Now I don't know whether you ment it ironically or not. :D Anyways, I think that Ante has had enough experience and most of all - succes - in germination to be of great help to anyone starting... ;)
Personally, I haven't tried it (at least not with bananas), because growing many seeded varieties would serve only esthetical purpose and that's something I cannot waste my resources on in this climate. :D Although, I will be trying Musa basjoo 'Rubra' and Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelli' very soon.

Depends on the freshness of the seeds really.
You can expect anything from a few weeks to several months
before seeing any movement.

I got the seeds from an ebay shop, so they probably won't be in the best condition. I will just have to sit tight and cross my fingers. "Patience is a virtue":nanerwizard: Or so they say!
