I was gone for a week or so on vacation and when I came back I was surprised at how my banana looked. I've only had it for a year or so so thought something really weird was going on. But the more I look at it i'm suspecting its starting the floweing process. Any ideas?
![]() The leaves get smaller and smaller the newer they are, and there's probably a hundred of these little guys. It's not like a flag leaf on musa so need your help! |

Excellent, thanks for the diagnosis. It seems hard to find pics of this flower so I will post some good ones as it blooms.

My first thoughts when I looked at the picture were that it had the strangles. I didn't know that Ensetes put out so many small flags before flowering.
I look forward to seeing the finished article ![]()

![]() Little Shop of Horrors anyone? There's about 200 little bananas circuling this monster, a lot more than I thought it would put out. They look cute but arent edible right? ![]() Kind of hard to see right now, but the ants have found them! BTW this banana is only about 1 year old and around 6 feet tall. Not sure why it flowered so early. |

Awesome shots, SalsaKing, congrats!
Any chance of you uploading the pictures to your gallery here, so that people searching the gallery for shots of the Ventricosum in bloom can locate them? And also, that way, we can get them into the page in the wiki. Mark, I added your picture to the wiki, check it out. I also added your location to the member map at the bottom. To see how I did it, click the edit link by the map to see the underlying lines of code. You'll see the line of code that makes your pin appear at the bottom of the list. You can use that bit of code in any map on the wiki, just put it on a new line between the opening and closing map tags. http://www.bananas.org/wiki/Ensete_ventricosum ... carry on ![]() |

Media Hound = WIKI pimp! LOL!
I do think that these are great shots and if everyone of us added to the WIKI this season we would likely accomplish a lot of good info for us to reference in future seasons. Thanks for the great photos of your Ensete...now if my damn plant would flower! Jay ![]()
