Oooh! That doesn't sound promising. Were they fresh seeds? I collected mine from dried fruit still on the plant. Maybe that will make a difference? After 8 months, I might just order some tissue cultures. I've also got some Zebrina seeds. Any luck/experience germinating those? |
Re: Musa laterita seeting bloom !!!
Nice Bloom! Maybe someone will send some pollen from something else and you could make a hybrid.
I didn't have much luck germinating the seeds either. |
Re: Musa laterita seeting bloom !!!
Randy,
To my knowledge, laterita and ornata is one in the same. Like almost everything else banana name-related, there is a lot of confusion. Luckily, it doesn't keep us from enjoying the beautiful blooms! |
Re: Musa laterita seeting bloom !!!
Brent, I agree that they are one in the same, I just try and call it by its correct name and not the one that it got called when it was lumped in with the other ornatas... aka M.ornata 'Bronze'

Re: Musa laterita seeting bloom !!!
Yesterday I looked at my pot of about 30 Laterita seeds. After about one month of neglect, I have one sprout coming up. Hopefully, there will be more.
