Cool! I'm guessing from Kenibreed? I thought about ordering seeds from them, but since I thought about that, rarepalmseeds.com has forced me to go broke buying their new Musa seeds, lol.

I suppose its possible, but know that M. griersonii is known from only a single sighting and has never been seen again as far as I know of. It would actually be quite interesting and significant if it was rediscovered. With these seed dealers though I would be careful to not get so set on the ID until you are positive, as in actually seeing the plant flower and making an ID from there.

It is indeed known from a single gathering. I will not be moving any on until I have grown them out and confirmed they match Noltie's description. I think it is more the case that until now nobody went back to where he found it.

This is a 'Griersonii' I grew from seed. I think, though, that it's a hybrid between Griersonii and probably Sikkimensis. Still nice looking though.

Looking good.

I grew some from seed early last year and they all germinated. A year and a half down the line my best one looks like this,





I have another out the front which is a double stem from one seed which isn't as big but just produced its first pup, and the other one my dad has now and that's a little smaller than my big one.

It has some lovely colouration. Different to Sikkimensis - more plum coloured

I must say it is one of my favourites. Pics dont do it justice with the colour. its like a bright pink/purple on the stem and under the leaves is a deep purple/marroon. I have put aload more seeds in the propagator .

Yours looks very very much like Musa thompsonii B19bst!!
And that is very well possible since I think they're quite closely related,..

The arrangement of the leaves and the slenderness of the pstem is different to Thompsonii, also the colouration is different.

I had a thompsonii and it was very slow growing and also was thinner if I remember. This nana is very fast growing. Grown around 2 feet in 3 month or less.

In the nursery in Angatuba there are already 6 seedlings of Musa griersonii germinated, now the plants are 20 cm tall. In November Helton will send me 3 plants to my chácara in Lucianópolis. I will plant them into my banana special garden at my pond, currently I am updating my webpage.

Helton will keep another 3 plants to produce mother plants for pups and seed production in his nursery.

I was looking for seeds of this plant and I saw there were some question marks over its true identity? Also there seems to be some suggested synonymy between this and sikkemensis darljerrling giant? Does anyone know if these are the same and whether they are griersonii? Or possibly know a trustworthy supplier for griersonii
