Default Musa basjoo flowering

The Musa basjoo started flowering just before Christmas. After growing it for about 5 years, this is the first time it has flowered. It hasn't really thrived here. Last nights cold didn't bother it.

The yellow color is nice, different than the usual red/purple/maroon color.

It has been very windy that last few days with the cold and lots of Tillandsia has blown out of the trees.

The palm is Syagrus romanzoffianum, Queen Palm.

When they mature, will the seeds be any good seeing as there aren't others to cross pollinate with them?

Beautifully blossoms! And five years before the first flowering, not long?

Usually most bananas we have grown flower within 2-3 years of planting. The Musa basjoo grows but doesn't seem to thrive in our long hot season. This plant also has only grown a couple of pups and is about 7ft tall. Maybe they don't like our soil which is very well drained and sandy. We have had a couple other plants of M. basjoo grow for a couple of years then die but this could have been to nematodes as they are very common in the sandy soil.
