Default A Field of Wild Musa in NE Thailand

I figured these are Musa acuminata, probably var. siamea. This was at Tubkwang Swine Research Station in NE Thailand, just outside of the property. We stayed there one night (I still remember the very cold shower!), and I got these pics the next morning before we left. As it drew close to time to leave, I looked around and realized that the grass was 8 feet high and that I was completely turned around and lost. I did eventually make it out, obviously, but that was not fun. Plus, I was covered from head to toe in grass burs. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

The moral of the story is, if you see a field of wild bananas in Thailand, make sure you know how to get out.

Hi Frank! Beautiful photos of wild bananas, thanks. Very similar on wash wild Musa acuminata. You did not look fruit? There there are germs of seeds? What wild bananas still came across to you? Whenever possible spread a photo. All the best!

Nice looking plants, thanks for the story, glad you didn't wander into Burma. Was the fruit seeded?

Yes, the fruit was seeded, and I have a few fruits from those plants. If I get some seedlings, I'll let you know!

Very cool! I would love to find a field of wild bananas. Although in Indiana where I'm usually located, the closest is my back yard!

I know this was posted a while back. But I just absolutely love those pictures. So vibrantly green and healthy. Heck I wish the ones in the pots I have at home looked so beautifully vibrant. I wouldn't mind getting lost for a bit in those! (Just for a bit tho)
