Re: Ensete superbum, types, seed size, germination.
I've never tried the Thai species (the middle one). I just had another Indian superbum sprout yesterday. That makes three out of 25 or so in about 4-5 weeks time. The funny thing is, I had 1 out of 100 germinate out of the same batch, but I had them in a flat in the greenhouse. These last three were in a box on constant bottom heat. Not sure if that's what made the difference, or whether or not I got fungus gnats into the flat of 100. Anyway, I've got 4 plants now, so I'm happy! Can't wait to see them explode this summer.
What ever happened to your 'Kluay Pa' plants, Kyle? Did you grow them on, or did they die? You never have posted pics of them! I have had zero sprout out of about 150 so far. |

I will get seeds of the superbum from thailand in spring, will they germinate at 28 degrees?

I killed the Kluay pa when I left it in the cold greenhouse over winter. Daen- I'm not sure, but the Thai superbum seem to like some fluctuation. |
