I saw another post on here where someone was trying to pup their ensete maurelii. I'd like to try that too. I have one about 5-6 feet tall that I'd like to try this with. It's about 5" diameter at the bottom of the stalk near the ground. Do you suppose it would be big enough to cut off and try it? Or will it need to get bigger first?
Has anyone tried/done this? I was thinking about cutting it off, scooping out the center of it so that it would destroy the main stalk and then repotting it to see if it would stimulate the rest of the corm to produce offsets. Or does anyone know of a wholesale source for liners of the ensete maurelii? Thanks Sandy@ Northern Tropics

The thread shows the steps:
Ensete Maurelii propagation? Daves garden lists some vendors, maybe they can help. http://davesgarden.com/ps/go/76517/ I would also private message Ty Strode from Agri-Starts and see if he can coordinate something for you: http://www.bananas.org/member.php?u=529 |

I did get my liner I was looking for from agristarts. Thanks for your help. It turns out that someone I know has a daughter working there. Now if I could just get FED EX to stop killing them on the way up here. They were badly crunched! I'm going to ask for UPS next time and see how that goes.
Sincerely Sandy
