If you go to your control panel (User CP), then click "edit profile", scroll down, and you will see a box where you can enter your zipcode to find out what zone you are in.

There are many good threads about overwintering bananas in the "Cold Hardy Bananas" sub-forum. http://www.bananas.org/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Thank you for the scale, as I said I live in Spain (southern) so my zone will be about 10. One more thing I have just planted a banana plant that is about seven feet tall and what I would like to know is should I cut the leaves off or not for the winter.

I wouldn't unless you absolutely needed to.
Do you know what kind of banana plant it is?

If you are at no risk of freezing temps. I wouldn't do anything with your bananas other than cut back on the watering and fertilizing until you see they start growing again next spring. Zone 10 should leave you at no risk for a freeze. If you suspect a freeze then I would suggest putting mulch of some type around the base of the plant for the nights you might get a freeze but that would be all I suggest.

Did you buy the plant in Spain? If you did, it is almost certainly Dwarf Cavendish. I am in Spain quite often, and I have not seen other cultivars than cavendish there.

Don't worry, just leave them and they will be fine.
