Winter Ready
I just finished getting my banana’s ready for winter. Even though my bananas are hardy for this area, I want to start the season off next year with some height. This is my first time going through the effort of digging, cleaning the root ball and then storage. It wasn’t that bad at all. I hope I get the results that I want for next year. Mainly getting the blooms to happen earlier so I have a chance of getting fruit before the cold and frost come in. My banana types are Basjoo, Sikkimensis and Musa Bordelon. Red

Re: Winter Ready
Gee, you must really love your bananas. You even lined the garage floor with your bedsheet! And looks like they bloomed already.

Re: Winter Ready
I forgot to ask this question in my original post. Should I cut off the blooms that are on the bordelon or just leave them be? Also, does the plant die back after blooming or just keep going? Thanks for any and all help. Red

Re: Winter Ready
Once it blooms the pstem is done. Save whatever pups there are and compost Mom.
