Default What's this little guy's problem?

I got my first musa basjoo plant last Saturday April 26 in the mail. He has grown several inches plus a new leaf and another leaf is peaking out. What are the brown spots on his trunk along the bottom? See photo.

Thanks in advance.

Looks to be a little bit of rot. Typical for a banana. Make sure it gets plenty of light and warmth. Keep it moist, but not wet. At this point I wouldn't worry about it. I've had this same problem with lots of my mail order youngsters. Good luck-Nate
