Siam Ruby overwintered out doors!!!
Yep, MSU extension office was right about Siam Ruby. It over wintered outside zone 8a with mulching.

do you know about how large the corm was in diameter, i have bought a siam every year for the past three years, and cannot over winter it inside because im away from home and my mom doesnt take care of it well. and havent ever does the dry dark storage without soil until this year, and only on a basjoo.

These were small corms in the ground with pinestraw cover, then clear 2 mil plastic over the grouping, and then more pinestraw over the top of the plastic to block most of the sun light heating the mass.

Mine overwintered outdoors in a large pot this year. Normally, I have to bring them in and protect them but this winter was mild enough that they were OK. In fact, there is stil almost 4' of viable pstem on them!
