The race is on Ensete glaucum
 
Hello been a long time since I posted but I would like to know when is a good time to cut this back and store for the winter ? all summer it sulked in the heat now that its cool its putting out leaves much faster. As usual any and all advice is appreciated !! If I did that right click on pic to see all 4 pics :08:

I can't say for sure but it looks really nice Mike! I didn't know Glaucum likes cooler weather. That is good to know. I have some I plan to put out next year. I'll be currious to see what people have to say about what to do with yours.

i have..so far.. LOL.. 4 glaucums.. biggest is in full sun..planted out
and got huge..
i cut back all my tropicals at same time.. i usually wait for 1st good frost
..this yr i do have a few more tender EE's that i will dig before that..
were having a real nice indian summer..

one thing ive notice with my glaucum thats different from the other
bananas..is the pseudostem puts on more girth in late summer..
at least has last 3 yrs..
anyone else have similar observations????

Mike-where are you located? I'm in zone 7a and I dig up my glauca and store it bare root leaning against a wall in the warm basement. Must be OK since this year it's now blooming.

Hmm..I would have thought frost would kill Bananas.

Howard do you drain your nanas?

Every country treats differently of course.

Here we are to expect early snow (october) but be toasted hot this week. The warning was make the most of this week.:ha::ha:

Saltydad im in a zone 6 and did you leave the leaves on or trim everything back? Also how many years berfore it bloomed ?

Nannerfunboi yes the base is swelling up alot in recent weeks and they rain we ve been have these last few days have made it bigger.

mike..im in zone 6 as well..and i cut all leaves back and last one
i cut way back..but just a reminant left..
i rinse the roots off..and dry outside..then bring in..
interesting on the bulking up on base of pseudostem huh.. mmm
i hope my bananas never bloom..LOL they get so big..flowering..they will die..and i loose a super big plant..
im sure one day..i'll "hope" to see a nanner bloom.. :)
were having a super indian summer here.. was nearly 90F over the weekend.. suppose to cool off some..then climb back up into 80sF going into
next week..

I cut off all the leaves except for the top one that was still a roller. I don't drain my naners, but I do store 'em standing up on the floor. Never noticed any moisture. My bloomer is 3 years old.
