Hello Bananafans!
The pic shows a way of my banana overwinterings outside, wrapping straw mats and putting a plastic bag with breathing holes in order not rains sneak into the plant stem. I do hpe this way would work well and keep the plant alive till the spring comes back. As a matter of fact, I was so tempted that I removed the cap and look into the coverage, and was relieved that it is green and still alive at the moment. |

As a newbie to this, I find photos showing what steps people take to overwinter their musas very interesting. Thanks for posting. BTW what zone are you in?
Also loved your Audrey photo which I commented on. |

Thanks for the photos Stan! Looks very neat. Your plants will probably go throught the winter with flying colours.
My stems (Sikkimensis, Helen, basjoo) are protected with hay only, and no rain-cover. Even though it's all wet, none of the stems have rotted and all are green and firm under the hay-protection. Right now we hare experiencing a low of -7 degrees C, so I am very worried and excited about my sikkimensis and helens. Basjoo, I think will be OK. Erlend

Hello Debca and Erlend!
I thought I had missed inserting the photo in the post. But guessing your replies, the picture could have been successfully attached. If it is not the case, please tell me so, then I will send it again. To Debca: I am in zone 9A and the lowest temperature of this winter untill today was 36F/2.5C. It has been extraordinarily warm this winter quite contrary to CA. Thanks you all. Stan |
