New to the forum

I'm new here and just started with banana trees two years ago. I live in MO. and I'm wondering if it is possible to get fruit even though I have to dig up my trees in the winter.

Yes it is possible, digging them up for the winter will not affect the ability to fruit. Freezing the plant on the other hand will. So in your area I would definitely dig up in the winter and replant come spring time. It will take some time but you should get fruit as long as you protect the plant from freezing.

Thanks for replying. I have already dug up my trees for the winter. Also have Musa Basjoo and dug one up and left the main corm in the ground for the winter. I had alot of luck with that this spring with 4 trees reaching over eight foot. Also have a chinese yellow banana and another banana which reached 10 foot that I have to bring in, not sure what it is though.

Miss my trees in the winter though!

Throw some mulch on that basjoo corm your leaving in the ground. Dont want it to freeze, if your area gets that cold.:choochoo:

yes I already have about 36 inches of mulch around the corm and about 8 inches deep. Maybe some day I could pack them up and head south.
