Default Need help with banana plants

I bought 2 banana plants about 2 weeks ago. They were overwinter in a greeenhouse last year. By the time I got home with them in the back of my truck the leaves were so ripped I cut them off. The stem is about 4.5 feet tall with 2 pups about 2 foot tall. The 2 pups are producing nice good size leaves, but the main stem hasn't produced any more leaves but it looks like a small ear of corn is growing instead of shooting out new leaves. Anybody have a clue what this might be??????

Please post some pictures. No one can answer your questions without them. An ear-of-corn-like protrusion could be the blossom. But please post some pictures.

I agree with Chong. Sounds like you cut it just as the bud was about to appear.
