![]() This will be it's third summer in the ground and has went through two winters with protection. I took the box off in very early April, went through one mild frost and now she's getting big again.

![]() Looks beautiful.
What did you use to protect it through the winter? Did you cut off the leaves and wrap the pstem up? I'm trying to figure out what would be best for me to do this winter

I cut the stock down to about 1.5'. The first winter it was mulched, leaves and a tarp, i didn't like the results as I had to cut it down pretty much to the ground and luckily it did come back. This year I built the same protection as I do for my palms (see Windmill in background) which is a rigid insulation box with 2 sets of 4' shop florescent lights hooked up to a thermocube (switching to thermostats this winter) I maintained between 1 and 5 degress (Celsius) inside the box and I'm sure it dropped colder. We had an incredibly cold winter this year and they did very well.

![]() This is the tree the first year I had it in the ground, photo was taken in August and a single stalk was planted in May.
![]() I also had some really really large Canna's that year, way beyond the advertised height.

![]() if we get some sun and heat this summer they'll be real big. I didn't lose any pstems this year, even the smallest ones. There are some new guys poking their heads up already as well.

![]() Looks great. I have my cannas in pots so they don't grow that big. Will be trying bananas soon. But right now I'm interested in getting some banana trunks. Would you be willing to save some when they are cut down in the fall? I can arrange for pickup. It would be greatly appreciated.

![]() So here is an updated photo of my Musa Basjoo's. Everything is doing well in the front garden but I should of never planted the Amaranthus since their 3' advertised height has turned into almost 5' with my green thumb. They fell over with their stakes the other night, I need to restake them.

![]() In the picture, there are some Amaranthus (long pink flowers), an unknown fern (Kangaroo Paw?) , an unknown philodendron, Canna Australia with the red flowers, Japanese Maple far left, "Elephant Ear" back right, Taro's in the pots, Day Lilies in front, Canna Tropicana being hidden by the Basjoo, Golden Sword Yucca, couple ornamental grasses then the Windmill Palm and further back 3 Ensete Maurellis to the far left.
I'll take some pictures of all the Gardens tomorrow if I get a chance. I planted the Amaranthus for the first time this year, its grown well past the 3' advertised and I keep cutting it back and a couple days later its back up again.

![]() Oh, the driveway sign, left over from last year but it says "The Jerk Off" with a couple palm fronds. I host a Jerk Chicken Competition every year and it's called The Jerk Off.

![]() LOL, The Jeff.
With any of you local peep's (LOL) who would like a pup, do you have anything interesting for trading? It's not mandatory but I like collecting.

![]() Bought three banana plants two weeks ago. Hail storm on Sunday and last night did some serious damage to all my plants. I have nothing to trade but I would like a pup if the offer is still available.
