The shipping is worth it if you get one bamboo and the rest free shipping items... or more then one bamboo...... it isnt to different from canada posts rates...... IMO. They only have Basjoo as well.....

Ill have to check out that site.. thanks fer the lead..

Check the site again - I saw Musa sikkimensis on there. It might be only seeds, though.

What are you looking for in particular? There is a good place near Winnipeg where I got my Dwarf Orinoco and a Dwarf Green. They also have others, but it varies from year to year. You could ask to see if they could ship one to you. Sage Garden Herbs Send them an e-mail, because the web site is not accurate.

Also, check with local garden centres, or places nearby. They might order something in without even knowing it's special. I picked up an Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii' from a local garden centre, and it was labelled 'Ensete Maurel'. Just sitting there with all the annuals! It pays to keep your eyes peeled.

Many garden centres, and now even Home Depot and Rona have Dwarf Cavendish (or so I assume). Typically not labelled, but they are small plants, probably no more than a 1' p-stem, and the leaves are dark green with lots of brown splotches. Looks very nice, but I don't like buying something I can't 100% verify the name. Although for uner $10, I might just pick one up! (If I remember right, one of the big box stores had them for $6!).

Its hard to find anything worth wild here. I dont drive so is hard to go see the bigger nurseries.

Home depot let me down. They advertised bamboo, fer 20 buck fer a gallon plant... not bad... So I go there... they didnt get them in... i went there for a week. They didnt end up getting anything i liked unfortunatly.

I hear you on the suprises. I went to superstore, and they had dozens of plants that looke dlike papayrus. So i look, their labeled Cyprus Papayrus "king tut". Annual 7.99. The things were 3 feet tall. I bought 4 LOL. They also had Yucca Filimentosa (sp)....

Ive emailed the nurseries here, and they dont get any banana in....

Thanks dude...

I'm from Toronto and ordered 7 musa basjoo from Flora Exotica (Flora Exotica - Exotic Plants (Flowers, Fruits, Foliage, Vegetable & Herb)) in Montreal at the end of June. He shipped right away and from what I remember the price wasn't bad either. By the way all of the plants are doing great.

Garden Gallery carries the odd Bassjo, Zebrina and some times the odd other Musa. Lowes was getting rid of the summer stock and managed to get a dwarf Cavendish for $6.00 about a foot high they also had Zebrina's and some super dwarf of some kind with just plain dark green leaves.
