Musa "Buffalo Horn" hardy?
Hi,
some days ago I read on the website Achimīs Bananenshop*-*Home , that they are now offering Musa "Buffalo Horn". Is it one hardy fruit banana, as hardy as :coldbanana: Musa basjoo? Other names for "Buffalo Horn"? Is it perhaps one hybrid between basjoo and one fruit banana? Hardier than "Orinoco"? Best thanks in advance. With the best Basjoofriend |
Re: Musa "Buffalo Horn" hardy?
Hi Basjoofriend,
Never heard this name before. I do remember that Gabe once told that Basjoo will not cross with another bananaspecies excep with, if i remember it right, Musa Itinerans (they should be closely related to each other). On the other hand has Sikkimensis proven to create hybrids with AB, cfr. Helens hybrid,... Keep us posted Succes Panaroma |

I think the name got messed up in translation, and it's actually Musa 'Rhino Horn' the plantain.

Re: Musa "Buffalo Horn" hardy?
I have read the German site, but they don't mention about its hardiness and
whether or not it is edible fruits. and they say they cannot test it by themselves and they cannot guaranty anything at all. But they want sell it! The above what I understood, and nothing is clear at all for me. |
Re: Musa "Buffalo Horn" hardy?
Joe Real says it's high on the edible cold hardy list that he has tested-

Re: Musa "Buffalo Horn" hardy?
These kind of names are really useless, you can call any plant a new name and sell it as a new variety. It may just infact be something new, thats always a possibility, but as for any information on whatever this plant is...you're likely not going to find any information online or anywhere else and your best choice for real information is to grow it out and let the plant show you what it is.
