Musa Basjoo Inflorescence
 
Both this year and last I have been rewarded with two blooms from my musa basjoo grove. If you haven't experience the flower for yourself, it's a nice sight! I hope you will enjoy these pictures.

Are they edible? or they just doesn't taste good?

The shape of the fruit reminds me of our saba. It's very delicious especially for our Philippine famous called banana con yelo.

No, musa basjoo is not edible. They are just grown for their nice ornamental form. :)

Greetings Austin! Very good results, my congratulations to you! Musa Basjoo very beautiful banana and very much is pleasant to me. At you it has turned out two flowers, you did not try them to pollinate?

Andrei, thank you for the nice words. I agree that musa basjoo is a great looking banana. I didn't try to pollinate the two musa basjoo blooms, but I did try to cross pollinate my musa basjoo with musa velutina. Of course, the bananas will never ripen since it could freeze in a couple weeks, but it was fun trying. I will pick the bananas before frost to see if the pollen took.
