Default How soon should I fertilize corms

I overwintered 3 corms and now have them in pots. They are beginning to show signs of life. How soon should I fertilize?

Here’s one of the corms.

Hi,
I am no expert but if it was me I would wait until the corm dries out quit a bit before fertilizing. They have had quite a shock for the over watering the last thing you want to do is shock them again. Bananas like to eat but they have to have the ability to take up the nutrients and they will not do that if waterlogged. Depending on the temperature at your location wait until you dig down about 4 inches and if dry fertilize. Let them dry out because you will have to water after fertilizing. Just my two cents.

Sorry did not read they were in pots. Let them dry out a lot and water them when they are dry. Water them until the water runs out the bottom of the pot. Let them grow until they are producing leaves then either get bigger pots or plant them in the soil and fertilize.

DJ

DJ,

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I’ll wait to repot them in fresh soil and will add granular slow release fertilizer.
