Re: Helen's Hybrid Overwinter Success?
I have same questions, so love to hear from all.
NB, our Basjoo stored in cold frame are growing - got down to 15 inside. Will unwrap those outside in a couple of weeks - fear a late frost if do it too soon, but also fear waiting too long - hard to cover if frost warning :-( . Bananas inside greenhse are putting out leaves all over, pups shooting like wild, so the warm winter and early "spring' or whatever you call it these days here in Virginia (6b maybe 7 - 7 for sure without polar vortexes) have had a major impact. We will be picking last year's soon - not sure exactly what kind, need to post a photo. |
Re: Helen's Hybrid Overwinter Success?
Hello, I have a Helen's Hybrid planted outside since the summer of 2015. Its total height was around 2.5m last summer. My climatic zone is 7b. But these last winters were mild. The temperature did not drop below -12 degrees.
As written in my previous post: "Concerning the winter protection, you can find the details in the article that I wrote recently for the magazine of my gardener's association: http://actus.societe-francaise-accli....fr/2019-2.pdf " (But written by French.) Hoping this helps. Georges |
