There are no edible bananas that will survive outdoors year-round in your location.

I have Helens hybrid. One of the most beautiful banana plants. My 2 good sized plants last fall were around 8' tall seemed to go dormant very early. Also they both died to the ground. They did come up as pups this year very fast and are already about 2'. But they didn't make the winter. It got down below 32 about 5 times. One day had a record temp down to 20f. I have lots of others that had their pstems survive. So after their first winter in ground for me helens hybrid seems cold sensitive. Orinoco, namwa, and Brazilian are my most cold hardy fruiting bananas.

Some of the ones you listed it is very difficult to acquire the true plant. Some people will sell anything as whatever you want to make a sale. Getting pups from members who have fruited the mother is the best way. If you like surprises after 2 years and mislabeled plants buy TC. It took me 4 tries to get the real raja puri. 3 to get the real ice cream.

I don't think you should grow outdoors in the soil.
Please update your location in your profile. It will be easier for us to help you...

You are in zone 8b. The ornamental banana Basjoo is suitable for that climate.

To grow edible fruiting bananas outdoor year-round, you need at a minimum to be at the borderline of zones 9b/10a.

This list can help with your choice of plants in containers which tolerate cool temperatures.
Finding the plants might be a challenge

It should look familiar to a few members

You can always do that but I prefer growing in pots in those conditions. We have a short summer here. That being said, I will try one this year just to see if it grows faster.

That is how I get bananas in Dallas, Texas, I dig it up, remove leaves and soil. Pile them against the wall in the garage and replant in early spring. With luck and provided the plant start at 5 foot minimum I get flower in June/July and can get fruit by late October early November.

hi if your only talking about a few plants there is a way I have maintained rajapuri green and growing all minter in zone 7 out doors by digging a 6 ft dia hole 5 ft deep and topping with a doubled walled cover framed with 2x4s and covered with green house plastic( see my post in cold hardy bananas ) dwarf cavindished did not survive in the same setup died from cooler temps low of 42f this with an outside low of 8f this winter and to much moisture good drainage is a must i just remove the cover after the last frost I also have maintained psudo stems outdoors by covering with a 2 ft dia plastic bag and packing with dry leaves works for some varities and not others also velutina survive from the corm and come back each year if well established and fruit each year (20 weeks to fruit( not real tasty but great fun having seed spiting contest)
