Basjoo vs. Borderlon for cold?
I was just told my a nursery that the Borderlon does well in our cold (7b/8a). I thought I'd check with your wise people to get the REAL truth.

Re: Basjoo vs. Borderlon for cold?
Many bananas do well for me in 8a, Bordelon included. In fact, If I were in N.Dallas, I would try every type of banan I could find.

Re: Basjoo vs. Borderlon for cold?
For strict cold-hardiness I'd stick with the basjoo. However, if you are willing to experiment, why not try the Bordelon? It is an ornamental banana, somewhat reminesent of M. acuminata ssp. zebrina, but doesn't normally retain the beautifully patterned leaves of the later as it matures. I think you'll do fine with Bordelon in your area.
