Re: Basjoo: Sword or water pup
It's the most common way of plant propagation nowdays. Nothing to worry about.
Dang, where has all the romance gone, lol!

Re: Basjoo: Sword or water pup
Tissue culture plants are grown from a very small piece of the rhizome, because of this they are the weakest and most fragile type of plant to grow.
They will however eventually grow to a regular full size banana if taken care of. TC plants need to be potted in good draining soil and kept away from direct sunlight. Once they start getting bigger you can slowly transition them to receiving direct sun and eventually plant them on the ground. The key is to take care of the plant while it's rhizome and roots grow.

Here is a post which describes the differences. Your plant looks like a small healthy basjoo. Water suckers With care in three years your plants will look similar to these and will only get larger. Basjoos by Hostafarian, on Flickr |

3 months later.... Not that I suggest doing this. In fact now that I "know things" I'd never do it like that again. By the way Valor, as SOON as I get the cartons you have gifts headed your way. |
