Default Basjoo problem... Advice needed

I ordered a Musa basjoo from a reputable company. I don't want to give too many details about the company but they're ordering process is through mail only. When the corm arrived it was beautiful, large and bare root. I also ordered a Veinte Cohol that looked amazing too. The Cohol took forever to start off but is now growing rapidly. Based on the Basjoo corm I was expecting much more much sooner. Quite honestly, it looks like it's deteriorating but there is some green so I have not completely given up hope. No leafs have come out yet, and am starting to regret planting in the ground because I am in NY and doubt it would survive the winter with the condition it is in currently. Any thoughts? I know not all plants will take off quick, but was expecting big growth based on the original corm size. What would you recommend I do?

My other plants seem to be doing quite well based on this being my first year.

i would lift the corm or move the dirt around the corn and check for roots.
Also I think the top should be trimmed off right below all the brown.
Your papaya looks great.

If you don't want to lift them just take your finger and move the dirt around the outside of the corm. But definitely cut of that brown tip it will prevent the new growth from emerging.

This is my veinte cohol corm I planted a week ago I wanted to check for roots I found one so I cover back up and wait. I had brown at top of my corm I trimmed off yesterday.

Did dig down and saw lots of tiny roots. Decided to leave it in the ground. Cut down the top a little and say that it looked rotten. Decided to cut it to the ground. Hopefully it will grow. Haven't lost faith in it yet. At this point I hope at least one leaf shoots out.

When you cut it down was the cells white or was there still brown in the stem?
If things don't work out let me know. I can hook you up with another corm I have plenty of these things.

The rings quite honestly reminded me of a loose head of celery ha-ha. Very loose and almost falling apart. The brown basically went straight down to the base. I purchased it hoping to get a large Basjoo by the end of the summer. Figured it would shoot up faster than the tissue cultures. Fortunately the tissue cultures that I got from FHN are doing surprisingly well. I'm also hopeful that they are true Basjoo and DC as they are so common!

Yeah they should be I got mine as a TC plant as well.
I would still leave it in the ground and let it go.
It might still push up or it might send out pups you never know.
If it would have taken good it would have gotten bigger then the Tc.
When you got the corm was it cleaned of its roots or did it come with roots attached ?

It had large roots attached at the bottom. I honestly couldn't believe the size of it. That's why I'm still holding out hope.

It seems to me that you've planted it too deeply, allowing the crown to rot. Try replanting with the crown just above soil level. I suspect it may be too late for the main plant, although you might get some new pups emerge.
